Performing Arts Studio is known for producing the best theatrical
shows featuring ‘all student’ casts. Enhanced by professionally
designed sets, props and costumes and helmed by professional
directors and choreographers, each cast member is made to look and
feel their very best. From the auditions to the cast party, students
are treated with the utmost respect and leave with renewed

MAPAS Salutes is a new performance program that will enable the students and staff of MAPAS to pay tribute to the incredible contributions of performers, composers and bands over the years. This year we are excited to salute The Beatles - the British pop group that created hit after hit after hit song. Let It Be, I Want To Hold Your Hand, Back In The USSR, Help! and Eleanor Rigby to name only a few. MAPAS Salutes The Beatles will be an all-singing, all-dancing show jam packed with songs that have played no small part in all of our lives. Performers are talented, energetic and passionate about learning more about the greatest musicians and performers of our time. Beatlemania participation is by audition only.

MAPAS Presents is our new performance program that enables students to help bring to life shows from the musical theatre catalogue. This year, MAPAS Presents Anne of Green Gables, the Canadian musical based on L.M. Montgomery's classic heroine who has brought joy to millions of readers. When Marilla and Matthew receive a female orphan to adopt, instead of the helpful boy they had anticipated, their lives and the lives of those living in Avonlea are changed forever by the redheaded Anne Shirley. Hilarious characters, beautiful music - a joy to perform. MAPAS is excited to find the talented and dynamic performers to stage this wonderful show; participation is by audition only. |

MAPAS Sings The Songs From Into The Woods

| MAPAS Sings is a new program that enables young performers to learn and perform songs from shows that are otherwise too difficult to stage in their entirety. (the musical Titanic anyone?!) Stephen Sondheim's fairy tale extravaganza is populated by the likes of Sleeping Beauty, Red Riding Hood, Jack (and the Beanstalk) and a Wicked Witch of course! Join us as we learn and present some of the highlights of this ingenious and bewitching score; we are looking for performers willing to embrace the magic of fairy tales and take on the challenge of Sondheim's work. "Into the woods, then out of the woods, and home before dark!" Tours through the woods are by audition only. |

The Purple Pixies

| The all-new, all-glamorous, all-girls performance troupes - introducing The Purple Pixies and The Polka Dot Girls! The ladies in these troupes are talented singer/dancers who love to perform and are passionate about working together to create strength and unity on stage. These unique ladies understand the value of teamwork and work to support each other on and off the stage. Rehearsals will consist of both learning music and dance classes to hone and perfect technique, as well as add new steps and skills to each lady's personal repertoire. The Pixies and Polka Dot Girls will perform at each studio recital and work to create their own show. They rehearse on Saturdays: Polka Dots 10am to 11:30am, Pixies 11:30am to 1pm. Enrollment in these troupes is by invitation only; each member must be studying voice privately in order to participate. MAPAS is excited to unleash its own brand of purple girl power on all of Brampton! |

Ultra Violet

| Introducing MAPAS' first jazz performance ensemble; a small group of dynamite singers, dedicated to creating a smooth, tight blend of sound and bringing the classics of the jazz standard catalogue to life. Each member is a fiercely talented singer who works well on their own, as well as in a group; they are ready for musical challenges and open to trying any and all new material. Ultra Violet will perform at A Very Purple Christmas, Bringin' Da Purple and The Sound of Purple as well as at numerous studio events throughout the year. They will represent the studio at various vocal festivals in order to learn and showcase their 'ultra violet' sound. The MarionEttes

Members of this studio Comedy Improv Troupe learn and execute and basic rules of improv through many different exercises and games. The MarionEttes are talented, hard working, understand comedy and believe in the value of working as a team - vital to your survival in Improv! The MarionEttes perform at several different showcase performances, as well as in A Very Purple Christmas, Bringin' Da Purple and numerous other events on the studio calender. In June they will celebrate the end of a rewarding year with their final performance in The Last Laugh - a night you won't want to miss! The MarionEttes rehearse on Thursdays, 8pm to 9:30pm; enrollment is by audition only.

The Purple Prom Dates

| Introducing, The Purple Prom Dates; a smaller MAPAS Comedy Improv Troupe, fiercely dedicated to honing their own improv skills and supporting each other's work no matter the comedic risk. This group of players will perform at A Very Purple Christmas, Bringin' Da Purple and The Sound of Purple as well as at numerous studio events throughout the year. They will also be representing MAPAS at various comedy improv competitions and festivals - dressed in their very best prom outfits of course! The Purple Prom Dates rehearse on Thursdays, 7pm to 8pm. Viva Violet! Performance Troupe

| This troupe performs special numbers presented at all performances A Very Purple Christmas, Bringin' Da Purple and The Sound of Purple. Pieces performed in previous years include That's How You Know from Enchanted, Michael Jackson's Black or White and Deck The Halls ... reggae style! Also, for the first time this year, Viva Violet members will perform their own concert of music - HSM Yearbook: Musical Snapshots Of The High School Musical Movies; c'mon! You know you love that music! Viva Violet members are talented, hard working and reliable students; they are passionate about performance and love creating music and magic onstage. Viva Violet members rehearse on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons leading up to each performance; enrollment is by audition only. |
