June 28th: Happy Birthday Richard Rodgers! 🎂 🍰
It's very difficult to encapsulate the work of Richard Rodgers, it's as if he had three careers.
The first, his writing partnership with Lorenz Hart, leaving us with Blue Moon, My Funny Valentine and Bewitched, plus countless others.
Then, his partnership with Oscar Hammerstein II which resulted in blockbuster shows: Oklahoma!, Carousel, Allegro, South Pacific, State Fair, Cinderella, The King and I and The Sound Of Music.
And then, on his own he partnered with various writers (Do I Hear A Waltz? with Stephen Sondheim) or worked on his own (I Have Confidence in the film Sound of Music). Richard Rodgers was a musical miracle - leaving us countless melodies to discover and love.
